Expand your energy …

One of my favorite things about this practice of yoga is its ability to give us energy and make us feel healthier, happier and more vibrant. Who doesn’t need energy at this time of year??? Even when we come to our mat tired or worried, anxious or feeling blah, this practice seems to offer our body and our mind exactly what we need: a burst of energy and well-being. As we move and breath, this practice ignites the energy within allowing it to build and expand in our body, mind and our whole being.

As we face challenges, whether they are simple like a late afternoon slump or bigger like a pandemic, it is vital to keep our nervous system running as efficiently as possible. It is in these times that we need to raise our vibration, so our bodies and minds can rest and digest all that is happening around us. One of the best ways to do this is to circulate more life force energy, or prana, throughout the body. Igniting that energy within and allowing more energy to flow through your body can increase your ability to skillfully deal with holiday stress, fatigue, worry, traffic, COVID, you name it. In so doing, you have increased your overall well-being. When prana flows efficiently, our body and our mind can work at optimal levels and we feel healthier, happier and more alive.

Yoga expands our energy because it is an excellent natural energy booster. Who has ever felt tired while doing yoga? Yoga works to unblock stuck energy in the body, especially along the length of the spine where are primary prana energy channels are located. Each breath and each movement in this practice brings prana, or life force, energy into the body, moving the circulatory system and awakening the nervous system, basically bringing in new life into the body. When we elongate the spine, it energizes the whole body. Extending the spine opens or stretches tight chest muscles. When your chest opens, you breathe more freely to optimally fill your lungs. This deep breathing promotes mental alertness and physical energy. Yoga awakens all the systems in your body and brings new life to them.

We hope to see you on your mat this week in any of our in-studio and online classes where you can raise your energy levels and feel healthier, happier and more vibrant.

As always, thank you for reading my musings. Namaste, Leslie
