Vinyasa Flow - Level 2/3

This class is taught by:

Adam Dobbs

Through painful trials faced in his youth – which included severe asthma, insomnia, clinical depression, drug and alcohol addiction – and trying various approaches that did not set him free of these challenges, Adam began a seated meditation practice at 16 years of age, at a time when the practice was pretty much non-existent on Long Island, and he put an end to his substance abuse through sheer will power alone by the time he was 19.

He began the physical practices of yoga which ultimately lifted the depression and cured his insomnia. In 1997, he went to live at the Kripalu Center for Yoga and Health for almost 6 months where he did asana, pranayama and meditation at least twice a day along with studying philosophy, chanting and performing seva (selfless service). He began teaching yoga at the age of 20. Shortly after, he received his license in Massage Therapy and has continued his studies of massage/bodywork extensively throughout his travels in Thailand, India and China. He is the creator of Asian Fusion Bodywork® — a natural evolution of his experience.

After slipping on ice, which resulted in significant damage to his body, rather than rely on the suggestions by multiple orthopedists to have many surgeries, he instead decided to receive extensive bodywork in Thailand. Along with constructing a more therapeutic yoga asana practice, he attempted to heal his body naturally. As a devoted Ashtanga Practitioner he has always found the system to be so elegant on so many levels, however it was not enough. He continued to practice Ashtanga but he started tacking on numerous other postures along the way which seemed both logical and instinctive. Ultimately this resulted in more stability around his damaged joints and he has been able to avoid invasive surgery. This sequence of asanas became his Signature Ashtanga/Vinyasa Blend. With over 20 years of experience in Yogic Practices and Therapeutic Bodywork, he hopes to have the opportunity to assist you on your path to optimal health and happiness and to share with you what is transformative, healing and POSSIBLE!

Vinyasa flow classes link breath and movement to create a continuous fluid flow of postures. Vinyasa means “breathe-synchronized movement” and the beauty of this class is that the sequence, or “flow”, can be different in each class, even with the same instructor.  This Level 2/3 class is powerful and dynamic. The yoga practice incorporates arm balances, inversions, and energetic sequences that challenge the body and stimulate the mind. You must have a knowledge of the basic postures. The teacher will provide detailed instruction on how to advance to deeper postures.
