Vinyasa Flow Level 1

This class is taught by:

Doreen Garrido

Doreen is a 200-hour Yoga Alliance certified Vinyasa Flow yoga instructor. Her classes are upbeat, fun, and inspirational; they combine the workout of a flow class with techniques that provide relaxation and renewal each time you practice. Doreen believes that the more you relax, the safer, stronger, and more powerful your yoga practice will be. Her study of anatomy & physiology incorporates science into the yoga practice. Her classes create space in the body and the mind, emphasizing breath and alignment, while challenging students to tune in to every corner of their body – and have fun at the same time. She understands that the beauty and strength in each student is revealed on the mat. Everyone has their own individual yoga goals, and Doreen specializes in helping students with fitness goals, while fulfilling themselves with the mental aspects of yoga. Doreen’s classes focus on really connecting with and embracing your own body. She emphasizes taking yoga into your daily life. Students leave class feeling more fit, revitalized in body and mind.

Nancy Rich

Nancy Rich, RYT-500, stepped onto the path of yoga seven years ago. Her love of the practice and the freedom she has discovered, both on and off the mat, informs her teaching. She serves her community by offering yoga to her students in a safe, nurturing environment. Nancy has received both her 200 and 500 hour Yoga Alliance Teaching Certification from Abhaya Yoga. The Abhaya Method focuses on deepening awareness while releasing holding and gripping patterns in the body. By integrating eastern philosophy, healing practices, western therapeutic and functional movement techniques a holistic approach is used to align, heal and guide the practitioner toward a deeper freedom.

Dawn Peer

Dawn Peer, MS, ERYT and Reiki Master Practitioner has had a personal yoga practice for more than 17 years. She is teacher trained and certified at the 200 hour level with Suzanne Cardinal, ERYT-500 at Into This World Yoga Teacher Training, and is registered with Yoga Alliance. She has completed additional advanced training in Prenatal Yoga, Children’s Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Reiki.
Prior to Dawn becoming a yoga teacher- Dawn received a BA in Sociology at Rosemont College, Pa. and a MS degree in Elementary Education, at CW Post University, NY and has a Permanent Teaching Certificate in New York State. She was an Elementary teacher at East Woods School in Oyster Bay, NY and Twin Pines Elementary School in Brentwood, NY. Dawn was initially drawn to yoga for the physical benefits after the birth of her first child. The connection to mind, body and spirit became stronger the more she practiced yoga both on and off the mat. Dawn soon noticed the transforming affects yoga had in her personal life. Dawn decided she wanted to share this transformational effect of yoga with others and became a registered yoga teacher.
Dawn guides each of her students to explore their own unique style. Her classes create a safe and comfortable atmosphere for each of her students to develop their own practice. Her dedication to inspire others is apparent in all of her classes.

Margaret Jennings

Margaret's passion for yoga began more than a decade ago. She holds a Master's Degree in School Psychology and pursued her love of yoga when she retired. Margaret received her 200 hour RYT Certification in Refined Flow at Absolute Yoga. Her enthusiasm extends to the benefits of meditation. Margaret is certified in Meditation and Visual Imagery through the Huntington Meditation and V.I. Center. Her training is a combination of Anusara, which is based on bio-mechanical principals, blended with the breath and movement of Prana Flow. She continues to study Anatomy, Therapeutics and the emotional benefits of Yoga and Meditation. As a dedicated practitioner, Margaret views her practice as a way of life and one of the best ways to balance spiritual, emotional and physical healing. Within the framework of joyful exploration, she creates an environment for her students which promotes self discovery, curiosity, strength and peace. She is blessed to be loved and supported by her teachers and her wonderful family, Kevin, Kyle, Katie and Colleen.

Evelyn Fleck

Evelyn Fleck began practicing yoga in 2001 to help manage the stress of a busy life. As her studies progressed, the richness of the yoga unfolded along with the transformative aspects. She has been studying Ashtanga and Vinyasa Flow with Adam Dobbs since 2002 and attributes to him her discovery of the true essence of yoga. She has also enjoyed attending workshops with David Swenson and David Williams. In her quest to delve deeper into her practice, Evelyn began studying Anusara Yoga in 2003 with Amy Ippoliti. She believes the marriage of flow with breath and alignment is a perfect fit. Since that time she has attended numerous workshops with Amy Ippoliti, Desiree Rumbaugh, and John Friend. In 2005 she completed her first Immersion with Amy. In 2007 she completed a 200-hour teacher training with Sue Elkind and Naime Jezzeny and is certified through Yoga Alliance. Evelyn is also a student and practitioner of Buddhist meditation, philosophy, and Yin Yoga. She has been studying regularly with Sarah Powers since 2003 and has been greatly influenced by her as well as the teachings of Sharon Salzberg and Pema Chodron. It is with much gratitude that she thanks all her teachers for guiding her on the yogic path including her husband, Greg, who has been one of her greatest teachers. Evelyn wishes to share her love and passion for yoga with her students and hopes that everyone can experience its transformative effects
Vinyasa flow classes link breath and movement to create a continuous fluid flow of postures. Vinyasa means “breathe-synchronized movement” and the beauty of this class is that the sequence, or “flow”, can be different in each class, even with the same instructor.  Level 1 classes are taught at a slower pace to allow you to experience postures fully and to learn to incorporate modifications appropriate for your abilities and limitations.
